Whenever I stream, my mic picks up a lot of white noise, background noise, etc. (whatever you want to call it). Usually when I record in Audacity for videos, I use the noise removal option to get rid of the sound, but I am not sure how to get rid of it during live streams. I've seen top streamers with the same mic as me (Blue Yeti) and they don't pick up the sounds I do. I use OBS, and the Noise Gate is not the kind of solution I'm looking for.
My best example would be this:Throughout the video you can hear a bit of white noise, and it is louder during some parts (at least from what I can hear on my system). Is there any way to do some sort of real time noise removal? Maybe some software I can use?
If you have questions for me just let me know, and thanks for the help in advance. Yep, switching it into Cardioid mode and turning down the gain is how you'd get around this primarily. Likewise, moving it off your desk and onto a proper shockmount and mic arm would be a good idea (you can hear the noise transmission from your desk, and the closeness to your peripherals in how they're almost as loud as you are). There's a reason that a lot of people using this style of mic have it on-camera. You want to be less than a foot away to get the best sound reproduction possible (also again allowing you to use a lower gain setting). Meaning a pop filter too.
Shock Mount 2. Mic stand or clamp or something similar 3. Pop filter 4.
Control the gain 5. A shock mount will help with vibrations etc. So say you knock the table or mic stand etc.2. Will get the mic off the table reducing clutter and moving the mic further from your fan.3.
Will help drown out surround sounds to a certain extend, it really help if your near loud noises:P.4. Turn the gain down, if your mic is near your mouth then their should be no need to turn the gain up.5. Cardioid will make Sound be picked up mostly from the front, but to a lesser extent the sides as well.If you need further assistance you can always contact me here or on twitch.
On microphones. Check for nearby devices which might cause interference. Switch off anything noisy, like ceiling fans, televisions and so on. Speak directly into the microphone. Close any doors and windows. Make sure that the mains electrical cables are not running across any audio cables like your headphone wires, because the electromagnetic force which surrounds mains cabling can cause interference. Use the right sort of microphone.
